Can I apply for another fellowship or grant after completing one?

In general, AAUW fellowships and grants are one-time awards. This means that once you have received a fellowship or grant, you are not eligible to apply for another. For example, if you received a Selected Professions Fellowship to pursue a master’s degree, you would not be eligible to apply for another AAUW fellowship, such as the American Doctoral Fellowship. 

Exception for International Project Grants: Alumnae of the International Fellowships program may be eligible to apply for International Project Grants. These grants support community-based projects in their home countries following their fellowship year.

Exception for American Postdoctoral Fellowships: AAUW Alumnae may be eligible to apply for the American Postdoctoral Research Leave Fellowship. This fellowship supports researchers who have completed their terminal degree and are beginning research in their field. Applicants must have maintained good standing throughout their award year and must have completed and submitted their AAUW final report. Applicants must be a US citizen, permanent resident, or national to apply.

Exception for the Career Development Grant: AAUW Alumnae may be eligible to apply for the Career Development Grant. This grant women pursuing a certificate or training program needed to enter, transition into, or advance within fields where they are underrepresented. Applicants must have maintained good standing throughout their award year and must have completed and submitted their AAUW final report. Applicants must be a US citizen, permanent resident, or national to apply.  

Exception for Community Action Grants: Grantees are welcome to apply for the Community Action Grant again even after receiving a grant. Applicants who have been awarded an AAUW fellowship are also welcome to apply for the Community Action Grant; since fellowships are awarded to an individual, while Community Action Grants are awarded to an organization or project, these are considered two separate applying entities.
